Serre Chevalier, one of the most extensive ski areas in the Alps

With 250 kilometres of ski runs, from an altitude of 1200 up to 2800 metres, Serre Chevalier has skiing for everyone, from beginners to expert skiers.

Located in the French Hautes Alpes, Serre Chevalier is a long valley, which stretches in a southerly direction between the Col du Lauteret Mountain Pass and the town of Briançon. Along the way, it is dotted with several villages and hamlets ranging from the traditional to the more modern, nestling at the foot of the stunning mountains of the Ecrins National Park.

300 days of sunshine per year

Serre Chevalier benefits from a climate which is both Mediterranean and alpine in influence. Far from the traffic and pollution of big cities, this pristine environment with pure air has become a haven of well-being for its visitors.

Architectural heritage designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site

History has bequeathed Briançon, in the Serre Chevalier valley, with a rich heritage, the symbol of the region’s cultural identity. You can still see bell towers in Lombard Romanesque style dating from the 14th century. These sentinels can be found in almost all the hamlets in the valley. But it is surely Vauban’s legacy that is the most impressive. The ensemble of his work is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hot Springs

Serre Chevalier is blessed with natural hot springs which have been used since Roman times. Today you can enjoy the properties of the natural hot water at the Grands Bains in Monêtier les Bains.
